July Pet Vaccine Special

For the month of March 2018, our Certified Veterinary Technician, Melanie, has picked 2x2 Rescue. They are a 501 non-profit organization that is dedicated to pulling animals out of high-kill shelters, and placing them into foster homes before finding them their forever homes. Because the animals are placed only in foster homes, and not in a shelter environment, they are able to be socialized with other animals and children. They also work on housebreaking and other basic training.

2x2 Rescue is dedicated to saving animals at high-kill shelters. From March 1-31, 2018, we are collecting donations for 2x2 Rescue. All clients who provide a donation will get a FREE nail trim for their pet, or a $10 credit on their account!

Some items they need include:

  • Bleach
  • Laundry detergent
  • Blue Dawn dish soap
  • Leashes
  • Collars (dogs & cats)
  • Kitten Milk Replacer
  • Gas gift cards (they do a lot of transports)
  • Walmart gift cards
  • Tractor Supply Co. gift cards
  • Dog/puppy food
  • Canned cat/kitten food
  • Cat litter

For more, simply search 2x2 Rescue's Wish List on Amazon. You can also make a monetary donation directly through their website. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Why did Melanie pick 2x2?

Rescue dogs have a special place in her heart.

Dogs Phoenix and WicketMelanie currently has two rescue dogs – Wicket, a 13-year-old beagle, and Phoenix, a 10-month-old pure bred mutt. Wicket spent the first 6 years of his life in a research facility and he has the tattoo to prove it! Thankfully, Melanie was able to adopt him once he was "retired" from research. He is living the good life now!

Phoenix was born here at Illiana Veterinary Hospital via C-section. His mother – a puggle – was found roaming the streets by one of our clients. When they brought her in, her x-ray showed she was pregnant with four puppies. About a week later, she went into labor but unfortunately had a difficult time. With one living puppy and one puppy still inside, she was brought back to Iliana for the C-section. Dr. A handed Mel the lifeless pup, and after working with him for what seemed like eternity, he cried! The little guy beat the odds and lived to see another day with his sister and his momma. Once he was old enough, the couple who found his mom gave baby Phoenix to Melanie.
